Dear Preschool Families,
It is good to get back into a routine after such a long break. The children have even seemed ready to get back to it this week and have settled in nicely.
Thank you to everyone for your generosity in giving towards the two special family needs. Through the preschool we collected $430.00, which was split evenly with the two families. I can honestly say I was blessed just to be a part of sharing in the giving. Both families received the gift graciously, tearfully and perhaps even with awe, overwhelmed by the blessing. Thank you.
Where has all the snow, ice and winter cold gone? You may have to come to preschool to find it! That’s right…in preschool for the next few weeks our classroom focus will be on snowflakes, snowmen, penguins, bears, hibernation and mitten fun.
We are back on track with our letters. This week is Ll ~ Larry Lion. Next week will be letter Mm. We will enjoy a fun activity with the folktale, “The Mitten” and on Wednesday, we will read, “If You Give a Moose a Muffin” and yes, you guessed it! We will be making muffins to eat for our snack.
Our religion lesson this week helped guide the children to the realization that Jesus did not remain a baby. He was flesh as we are, and had to be taught many things. This prepared him for the work that God had planned for him, and we see it beginning with his baptism. Today, we went over to the church and viewed the baptismal font and talked about baptism and in many cases, the children’s baptisms themselves.
Catholic Schools week is January 27 – February 1. Preschool will participate in some of the activities outlined for the school, as we are able. I do not have a completed day to day outline of scheduled events at this time. I will post a schedule on the bulletin board when I receive it and send home information should there be anything in particular that your preschooler should need to do, bring, or dress accordingly for.
Looking ahead to February…Open House for anyone interested in information about our Preschool will be held on Monday evening, February 4, 6:00-7:30. As always, parishioners and families with children currently enrolled at St. Peter will be given registration priority.
Additional February news…some may wish to get a head start on those Valentine’s. Although party information will come at a later date, we will be having a Valentine exchange. There are 16 children in our class. Please do not write who the valentines are to…only put whom the valentine is from. This saves a lot of confusion on party day and children are able to pass out one to each friend without mixing up cards. I encourage you to allow your child to write his/her own name on the cards. This is a great way to get a little extra practice in, (encourage use of lower case, thanks).
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Ms. Loscher
