Dear Preschool Parents,
Br-r-r! Cold, cold, cold…January is definitely in full swing. We were beginning to wonder there for a while where winter went. I trust everyone enjoyed the extended Christmas break, however, it was good to get back into the school routine last week.
Thank you to everyone for your generosity in giving towards the two special family needs. Through the preschool we collected $430.00, which was split evenly with the two families. I can honestly say I was blessed just to be a part of sharing in the giving. Both families received the gift graciously, tearfully and perhaps even with awe, overwhelmed by the blessing. Thank you.
We are now on letter Mm. I am amazed at how well the children are doing with identifying the letters, retaining the letter sound and the Alpha Tales story line. Some of the children are also able to identify words in the story line or in the picture search that begins with the letter we are talking about.
The next few weeks our classroom themes will relate to snow, bears (hibernation), and penguins. Stories, art activities, centers in the room and even our gym play will be ways we will explore and learn about these themes.
Catholic Schools Week will be January 27-February 1. Preschool will participate in some of the activities outlined for the school, as we are able. I do not have a final outline of the day to day events, I will post a schedule on the bulletin board when I receive it, and send home information should there be anything in particular that your preschooler should need to do, bring or dress accordingly for. At this time I do know that the 3’s class will be participating in Pajama Day on Thursday, January 31.
Looking ahead to February…Open House for anyone interested in information about our Preschool will be held on Monday evening, February 4, 6:00-7:30. As always parishioners and families with children currently enrolled at St. Peter will be given registration priority.
Additional February news…some may wish to get a head start on those Valentine’s. Although party information will come at a later date, we will be having a Valentine exchange. There are 15 children in our class. Please do not write who the valentines are to…only put whom the valentine is from. This saves a lot of confusion on party day and children are able to pass out one to each friend without mixing up cards.
