MR. JEFF VANKANEGAN  - Seventh Grade

    Mr. Van Kanegan attended Harrison Grade School in Wonder Lake, IL and graduated from McHenry High School in McHenry, IL.  After graduation he enrolled in Illinois State University and graduated with a B. A. in Art Education.  He went back to school to receive his Certification in Elementary Education. 

     Mr. Van Kanegan taught Art at Central High School in Camp Point for 10 years.  He left teaching for 15 years to work as an illustrator and Art Director for McGraw-Hill Publishing.  He returned to the teaching profession in 2002.  He taught sixth grade at St. Peter for three years and currently teaches 7th & 8th grade Geography and American History. 

     Mr. Van Kanegan is married to Mary, who is a part time florist at Adam’s Florist.  He has two sons:  Mike, who is married and working on his PhD at the University of Iowa, and Tim, who is also
married and works for Information Systems Verizon.  Mr. Van Kanegan also has two step-children:  Jenny Haydeen, who is a gymnastics coach near O'Fallon, IL and Matt Powers, an investment broker in Highland, IL.  He  has four grandchildren.
He has a golden retriever, Lucy and is an avid Cub fan.
