ROOM SIX NEWS

WEEK OF MAY 12 - 16, 2008

WHAT WE’RE STUDYING:

READING: This week we wrapped up our theme of our last unit of reading. We also learned about reading for science. We took our End of Year reading assessment. We read to Mrs. Gallaher’s kindergarten class this week. We also enjoyed when a class of 6th graders read to us.

MATH: We completed our unit on measurement working with inches, centimeters, pounds, kilograms, cups, pints, quarts, and liters.

RELIGION: In religion this week, we concentrated on prayer-that we can pray using actions, words, singing, or that we can pray silently. We also learned more about The Lord’s Prayer.

SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES: We continued to learn about plants by focusing on the parts of a plant, how a plant grows, how plants adapt to their environment, and pollination. We have a wonderful series of videos from The Missouri Botanical Gardens which helped us with our plant studies.
